STATEMENT BY THE ANCWL ON THE PIETERMARITZBURG INCIDENT

5 December 2006

We, the ANC Women's League, would want to condemn the behaviour and the attitude that was demonstrated by the so-called members of the ANC during
the reburial in Pietermaritzburg of a revolutionary and a patriot of our National Democratic Revolution, Cde Moses Mabhida.

Our belief is that the Presidency in the ANC symbolises the dignity of the African National Congress and therefore must be respected.

We call upon all members of African National Congress and South Africans at large to refrain from undermining the leadership of our country and the ANC, as this will create a state of ungovernability and lack of respect for any leader of the movement and our country, worse setting up a bad precedent for future generation to come.
