GA/AP/733, 9 September 1977
The Chairman of the Special Committee against Apartheid, Leslie O. Harriman (Nigeria), sent the following message today to the South African Council on Sport (SACOS), Durban, South Africa:
"On behalf of the United Nations Special Committee against Apartheid, I have great pleasure in extending greetings to SACOS at its Second Biennial Conference and through it to all non-racial sports bodies and sportsmen in South Africa. Your courageous struggle against racialism in sports, in accordance with the Olympic principle of non-discrimination, despite all attacks and hindrances by the racists, is a significant contribution to the world-wide struggle against racism. You have thereby earned respect and recognition from the international community and your cause will doubtless prevail."
