PRESS STATEMENT BY CHAIRMAN OF APARTHEID COMMITTEE

Following is the text of a press statement issued today by the Chairman of the Special Committee against Apartheid, Leslie O. Harriman (Nigeria):

I am delighted that the South African Freedom Committee is arranging a benefit concert at Carnegie Hall on 23 March to raise funds towards building of schools for South African refugees.

The funds will meet an urgent need, and the event is in line with the programme for the International Anti-Apartheid Year.

I would like to express my appreciation to the organizers, and to the artists who are contributing their talents.

I commend the concert to the attention of all concerned.
