ANC North West rejects report in The Star

17 March 2009

The ANC in the North West is rejecting as wholly inaccurate report in the Star newspaper of Tuesday, 17 March 2009 claiming that" ANC councillor`s death sparks tension in factions."

Despite what we have said about this matter over and over again , it has been clear to us for some time that media have nevertheless found it in their interest to sustain the mischievous notion that the ANC is divided into two warring factions, . To us, it seems that some among these have found it personally profitable to sustain this dangerous fiction.

It is perfectly obvious why Motswako News Agency and Star editor decided that their political agenda had to take precedence over all ethical considerations, including the ethics of their profession, centred on the need to respect the truth and not tell lies, as well as the integrity of star newspaper.

The document referred to by the Star does not belong to the ANC Provincial Secretary, Supra Mahumapelo, but belongs to the Provincial Executive Committee of the North West. The ANC is aware of these unwarranted personal attacks against the ANC Provincial Secretary and it must be stopped, it must also be noted that we always work as collective and not as individuals in the movement.

Our province is currently and has for some time been experiencing much frantic activity focused on fomenting or encouraging tensions and conflict within the ANC and within our tripartite Alliance. The strategic intention of this activity is obvious. It aims to ensure the ANC defocus from its primary task of ensuring that we win the election with an overwhelmingly majority .The manufactured usable lies of the Star falls within and is example of this activity.
