ANC statement on weekend Provincial and Regional Election Manifesto Rallies22 January 2009 As part of implementing its broader programme and ongoing public engagement in the run-up to the elections, the African National Congress (ANC) -following the recent highly successful January 8 statement and the national launch of the 2009 Election Manifesto in East London - has so far held manifesto launches in KwaZulu-Natal and in Gauteng. The ANC will on 24 January 2009, hold provincial manifesto launches in North-West, Ikageng Stadium (Potchestroom) and on 25 January 2009 in Limpopo, Ephraim Mogale Stadium (Modimolle). Regional manifesto launches will take place in the Eastern Cape's Nelson Mandela and OR Tambo on Saturday. The Nelson Mandela regional rally, to be addressed by NEC members Fikile Mbalula and Siphiwe Nyanda, will take place at the Dan Qeqe Stadium in Zwide. The OR Tambo regional rally to be addressed by ANC Head of Policy Jeff Radebe, will be held at the Rotary Stadium. The ANC dispels any misconceptions that the Eastern Cape regional manifesto rallies are intended to counter a planned COPE meeting to be held in Port Elizabeth. The ANC programmes and campaigns are prepared well in advance and are not subject to influence or dictate of events of other political parties. The ANC has national reach, machinery and capacity to be able to hold massive rallies across the country, simultaneously.
