• Active in ANC from 1990 including serving on Western Cape regional executive committee 1991-94.
• Member of Parliament for ANC - 1994 to present.
• Member of Justice and Safety and Security Portfolio Committees.
• Co-chair of Constitutional Assembly Committee dealing with legal system.
