MAKWETU LAUNCHES PAC ELECTION CAMPAIGN IN N PROVINCE PIETERSBURG Sept 28 Sapa Pan Africanist Congress president Clarence Makwetu on Thursday predicted a much higher percentage of support for his party than in the general election at the launch of the PAC's local government election campaign in Northern Province. Addressing candidates in Pietersburg, Makwetu said the African National Congress-led government of national unity had fallen into disrepute because of its failure to produce what it promised. The PAC would create more jobs for the country's youth, who had fallen into crime and drug abuse, he said. This he attributed to unemployment and a lack of creative activity. It would also champion the cause of women and traditional leaders in the run-up to the elections. Makwetu reaffirmed his commitment to securing property for dispossessed people, who had nowhere to live. He claimed there was plenty of money available to restore land rights to thousands of South Africans, saying large sums were being misspent on lesser projects.
