CONSERVATIVE PARTY DENIES ELECTION PACT WITH NP PRETORIA Sept 26 Sapa The Conservative Party on Tuesday denied having any co-operation agreement or pact with the National Party and the Freedom Front for November's local government elections. CP deputy leader Dr Willie Snyman said in a statement that media speculation in this regard was incorrect. The party would be fielding candidates in all wards falling within the statutory component of the Transitional Councils. The only wards where this would not apply would be in cases where candidates indicated it would not be in the best interests of the Afrikaner to stand. Because the NP and FF were participating in the Government of National Unity, the CP had a fundamental difference in principle with them which made any alliance impossible, Snyman said. On Sunday the AWB suggested breaking off the organisation's association with the CP on the basis of information it claimed to have received about the CP making an election pact with the NP and FF in parts of Northern Province.
