ORGANISED BUSINESS "APPALLED" OVER ELECTION HOLIDAY JOHANNESBURG Aug 31 Sapa The Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry said on Thursday it was appalled at Cabinet's decision to make November 1, voting day for the local government elections, a public holiday, SABC radio news reported. The JCCI said the creation of yet another ad hoc public holiday was giving the wrong impression of South Africa's commitment to a work ethic. JCCI chief executive Marius de Jager said it was to be regretted that the Gauteng economy would be paralysed for an entire day.
