50,000 Northern Province voter registration forms not processed PIETERSBURG Aug 1 Sapa About 50,000 voter registration forms in Northern Province have not been processed because they were incorrectly filled in by applicants. Local government MEC John Dombo said at a Press briefing on Tuesday there was still time to follow up such cases. Forms completed before the deadline date, but which were only now arriving at registration centres, would also be processed. Although these and several other matters still required attention, the province would be ready for the November 1 local government elections. Huge billboards giving all relevant dates were being erected throughout the province, Dombo said. The training of electoral officials and monitors was progressing well, and particular attention was being given to the problem of communication systems in remote areas. Police and Defence Force units would play a crucial role in this regard. Dombo said Monday's visit to Pietersburg by Frederick van Zyl Slabbert and Kehla Shubane of the National Task Group on Local Elections had highlighted priorities in the province's preparations for the election.
