Registration fraud supports poll postponement call: DP

Reports of widespread voter registration fraud in Cape Town
lent weight to the Democratic Party's call for the postponement of
local government elections planned for November, DP chief whip
Douglas Gibson said on Thursday.

The fraud was not confined to Cape Town. Duplicated
registrations had also come to light in other areas, he said in a
statement.

Problems arising from the payment of enumerators had been
compounded by the authorities having decided it was not necessary
for voters to sign their voter registration application forms.
