DP in Eastern Transvaal supports election delay call NELSPRUIT July 12 Sapa The Democratic Party Eastern Transvaal region supports a call by DP leader Tony Leon for a postponement of the November local government elections, African Eye News reported on Wednesday. DP regional spokesman Clive Hatch said the provincial voters' roll was "not up to standard" and demarcation plans had not been finalised. "These conditions are unacceptable. Arrangements are already far behind schedule and to rush into the elections will only result in chaos." Polling irregularities which could be linked to poor organisation would make the elections undemocratic, Hatch said.
