During the first week of the month of January, we assembled in Mangaung in our thousands to mark a historic moment in the history of our country and continent, the hundredth anniversary of the birth of the ANC. The occasion was a political pilgrimage to the place where the search for a new vision for a free and democratic South Africa began.
The ANC Gauteng is pleased with the smooth process on the re-opening of schools in and around the Gauteng province. It shows that the Department of education in the province led by MEC Barbara Creecy had systems in place which allowed that administrative processes run accordingly. It also show that education in the province is amongst the key priorities of government in improving the lives of the people.
The ANC Gauteng province will conclude the year with a celebratory carnival to launch the preparations for the ANC’s Centenary.
The ANC Gauteng Chairperson Cde Paul Mashatile will launch the Duduza Tornado reconstruction of houses programme on Thursday 13/10/2011, 11h00, Duduza. The leadership will be hard at work to rebuild the house of the late Xolani Mkhatshwa who was killed on the day of the tornado disaster. The leadership will also visit the families affected to convey messages of sympathy. They will also walk around to inspect all houses destroyed by the tornado. The launch of the programme is critical to ensure that we rebuild the lives of the affected families.
The PEC meeting of 19th September 2011 gave a go-ahead for Tshwane to hold its Regional Conference on 01-02 October 2011.The decision was based on the fact that the region had met all conference requirements i.e. it had exceeded the 70% threshold in terms of the number of branches that had convened properly constituted quorate branch meetings which elected delegates and nominated candidates for the Regional Executive Committee (REC). The Conference was indeed convened by the PEC Deployees on 01-02 October 2011 to carry out its mandate in line with Rule 21 of the ANC Constitution.
