The PEC Lekgotla took place in the context of the successful 53rd National Conference held in December 2012 and the forthcoming 2014 elections which will coincide with the 20th anniversary of freedom and democracy in our land.
The ANC Gauteng is shocked and distraught by the killing of Comrade Jackson Mafika by unknown gunmen at his Kloof home in Westonaria on Wednesday evening. The South African Police Service is investigating this atrocious killing of our humble leader. The ANC has lost a great leader and who has been committed to serving the people.
We have gathered here today, at the Walter Sisulu Square of Dedication, to pay our last respects to one of the greatest revolutionaries of our time, Comrade Ephraim Nkoe, whom I have known for as long as I have been in the ANC.
The ANC Gauteng mourns the passing of one of the fearless and most articulate freedom fighters in the generation of the Young Lions. Cde Ephraim Nkoe passed on yesterday after a long illness.
The Gauteng PEC held its Annual Lekgotla on 9-10th February 2013 to develop a detailed programme of action for the year based on the resolutions of the 53rd National Conference. The PEC Lekgotla was followed by a very successful Provincial General Council (PGC) held on 24th February 2013 which assessed the outcome of Mangaung Conference and adopted the Programme of Action tabled by the PEC.
