African National Congress - 53rd National Conference

The ANC`s 53rd National Conference was held at the University of the Free State in Mangaung on the 16th - 20th December 2012. The highest decision-making structure of the ANC, National Conference is held every five years. The 53rd National Conference took place in the year of the ANC`s 100th anniversary.

The Conference was attended by 4,500 voting delegates, representing thousands of branches, located across the length and breadth of of South Africa.

The Tripartite Alliance

The Tripartite Alliance

The ANC is in an alliance with the South African Communist Party (SACP) and the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU). Each Alliance partner is an independent organisation with its own constitution, membership and programmes. The Alliance is founded on a common commitment to the objectives of the National Democratic Revolution, and the need to unite the largest possible cross-section of South Africans behind these objectives.
