MAFUZA SIGABI

ANC DISTRICT COUNCIL CANDIDATE - DC13 / STORMBERG EASTERN CAPE

MAFUZA SIGABI, who is currently Chairperson of the Stormberg district council, began his political involvement in non-racial sport through the King and Districts Rugby Union.

Since then he has played a leading role in community organisation and development, taking part in the formation of the UDF-affiliated Sada Resident's Association in 1985. He was chairperson of the association from 1988 to 1990. Sigabi was Chairperson of the first ANC Sada branch from 1990-92 and was a member of the ANC Border Regional Executive Committee from 1992-94.

Sigabi was part of Local Government Negotiating Forums in Queenstown and Whittlesea and the Provincial Negotiating Team which achieved the establishment of new district councils and transitional rural councils in 1995.

He is a member of the ANC Eastern Cape Provincial Executive Committeee, and is a member of the Social and Economic Working Group of the Eastern Cape Local Government Association.
