Summit to look at Merafong issue
2 September 2008
The African National Congress (ANC) is to convene a summit on 13-14 September 2008 to develop a proposal on matters arising from the demarcation of the Merafong municipality.
This follows a visit to Khutsong today by ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe, who held a meeting with local community leaders on issues raised in a memorandum presented to the ANC earlier in the year.
The summit will be attended by representatives of ANC, SACP and COSATU structures in the North West and Gauteng, the Merafong Demarcation Forum, and representatives from the Department of Provincial and Local Government (DPLG) and the two affected provincial governments.
The summit will develop a proposal for consideration by the ANC National Executive Committee (NEC).
