ANC express it`s condolences to the Mthembu family, family of the ANC National spokesperson

16 September 2010

It is with regret and shock to learn of the passing on of the younger brother of the ANC National Spokesperson, Cde Jackson Mthembu, Mandla “Shakes” Mthembu, who was 40 years old.

Mandla died together with two of his colleagues from the Mpumalanga Department of Public Works Roads and Transport.

Mandla and his colleagues died after a truck they were travelling in from work collided with another truck yesterday afternoon, on the N4, near Emalahleni and were immediate rushed to the Cosmos Hospital in Emalahleni (Witbank), were they unfortunately passed on last night.

We have also been reliably informed that there are other works from the department who are still at the Cosmos Hospital and other who have been transferred to a Tshwane Hospital to received specialised treatment.

The National Spokesperson has since granted leave to go and assist the family in preparation for the burial of his younger brother.

He therefore left Durban, the preparatory work of the NGC, for Witbank this morning and he will rejoin the NGC later.

The ANC would like to pass its condolence to the Mthembu family and other families who lost their loved one’s and we also wish those who are still in hospitals a speedily recovery.

The funeral arrangements will be communicate when finalised.
