Zuma congratulates Bafana Bafana

28 March 2009

African National Congress (ANC) President Jacob Zuma has congratulated Bafana Bafana on a well-deserved victory over Norway to scoop the Nelson Mandela Challenge soccer cup.

Overwhelmed by the 2-1 win by the South African team, Zuma who attended the game at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg to inspire a Bafana Bafana victory, has expressed appreciation at the hard work by the players and national coach Joel Santana. "Their performance was, indeed, world class," said Zuma.

The game against Norway has provided Bafana Bafana with the much-needed boost to work harder in preparation for the upcoming Confederation Cup ahead of 2010.

We are happy at the well-disciplined crowds that turned up in large numbers to cheer the players and the national coach. Once again, we call on all South Africans to do the same when we host the Confederation Cup.
