16 March 2009
The ANC in the North West is outraged by continuous misrepresentation of facts by Sowetan on the ANC matters in the North West.
The Sowetan of Monday, 16 March 2009 is saying Moss Phakwe was a Jacob Zuma ally. We want to make it categorically clear that no member of the ANC is ally to anyone in the movement. The President of the ANC is a leader of all its members equally irrespective of pre conferences preferences.
Secondly the document referred to by Sowetan does not belong to the ANC Provincial Secretary, Supra Mahumapelo, but belongs to the Provincial Executive Committee of the North West. The ANC is aware of these unwarranted personal attacks against the ANC Provincial Secretary and it must be stopped, it must also be noted that we always work as collective and not as individuals in the movement.
Thirdly, the PEC has not been stripped off its powers by NEC regarded by Sowetan but NWC took a decision to strengthen election work by deploying two NEC Deployee to the Province to be full time in the Provincial Office and there are no tensions in the alliance as well because all of us are focusing on ensuring ANC wins with overwhelmingly majority in the 2009 Provincial and National Election. The alliance in the province is part of all elections structures led by the ANC
Lastly the issue of vehicles being burnt must be left with the police because they are properly trained to carry out investigation that will lead to possible arrest of those responsible for these callous acts.
