30 August 2002
The African National Congress and the University of Stellenbosch are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement that the University will host the ANC's National Conference from 16-20 December 2002.
The 51st ANC National Conference, which takes place in the year of the organisation's 90th anniversary, will bring together almost 5,000 ANC branch delegates, observers and local and international guests.
The ANC and the University of Stellenbosch have already begun work to make the Conference a success. Joint teams at an executive, coordinating and operational level have been set up to look at logistics, accommodation, catering and the other needs of delegates.
The University of Stellenbosch expressed its intention to make the Conference delegates welcome and provide them with the best facilities and services possible.
The ANC expressed its appreciation to the University for undertaking to host such a significant event.
Both parties regard this momentous occasion as an opportunity to reiterate their commitment to the transformation of our country into a bastion of democracy and social progress.
