The African National Congress views the allegations of match - fixing by Hansie Cronje as very unfortunate. His comments that he was not entirely honest in divulging information concerning this matter is shocking.
Nevertheless, the ANC believes that is necessary to receive the full background and circumstances leading to these allegations of match - fixing, especially that there is a lot at stake for us (e.g bid to host the World Cup Cricket). The ANC welcomes and supports the call to establish a Commission of Inquiry into these allegations, to ensure that no stone is left unturned. The truth must out!
The ANC appeals to all South Africans to be calm in this trying period and leave the matter in the hands of the relevant sporting authorities and Government.
