The ANC has emerged from its final rally more stronger and confident of an overwhelming victory in Gauteng. Yesterday's Siyanqoba rally at the FNB stadium represented a determined people, ANC voters in Gauteng, who squashed any doubt about the strength of the ANC in the province.
We have already help more than 200 rallies, public meetings and house meeting over the past 14 days as planned and we are confident that our message of hope has reached almost every voter in the province. When the people of this province go the polls in less than 48 hours from now, they will have an opportunity to decide whether they want to remain in a partnership to build a better life or return to the unjust past of an elitist and racist system.
Sincethe first democratic elections in 1994, we have, together as a people, travelled a long road in building a democratic and a winning nation, underpinned by the principles of democracy, non-racism, non-sexism in a quest to achieve a better life for all our people. Since then, the ANC-led government, in partnership with all our people has registered significant achievements in housing our people, providing clean and safe water, offering quality education for our children, ensuring a safe and secure society, transforming the state into an efficient tool for delivery and most importantly, building a united and prosperous nation.
We all know that the path to building a better life has not been an easy one. There is much that still remains to be done, particularly around issues of jobs creation and crime control. But what the coming elections will demonstrate is that people are looking for workable solutions to theses problems, not scare stories and empty promises.
As we approach the election day, we are satisfied with our own state of readiness and are confident that the IEC is also fully in gear to usher a free and fair elections. We have already conducted a dry run for our election machinery involving 230 Branch Election Team co-ordinators and today we have 50% of our 2500 party agents in the field. We have also deployed 150 candidates to cover every polling station in the province.
On the morning of June 2nd, candidate Premier Mbhazima Shilow will be voting at his home station at the Panorama Primary School, Weltevreden park at 08H00, while the ANC Provincial chairperson Dr Mathole Motshekga will cast his vote at the Halfway House Community Hall in Midrand.
