25 May 1999
In just under ten days, South Africans will go to the polls to elect a government of their choice.
The ANC in the North-West is more than confident of an overwhelming victory in the province. Our confidence is strengthened by the robust election campaign that we started unleashing three months ago.
Over the past three months, leaders and candidates of the ANC engaged in extensive door-to-door voter contact, motorcades, distribution of thousands of ANC election campaign leaflets, posters and manifestos, addressed house meetings and rallies.
The feed-back arising from this indicate that the overwhelming majority of South African voters have confidence in our policies and they believe that we remain the only party that can bring about a better life for all our people.
Of course, voters have during our campaign expressed their concerns. However, the majority is still prepared to renew our democratic mandate so that we could accelerate change. In this regard, the ANC in this province commit itself never to fail and will continue to build on the foundation that was laid during 1994. The ANC has through its candidate selection process, appointed the best team of men and women who have the will and the determination to see their country succeed and the lives of their fellow citizens improved.
We are confident that this team will ensure that we deliver on our the undertakings will make in our manifesto.
The ANC takes this opportunity to call on all our people to use the days designated for Special votes to cast their votes. We also commend the IEC for the job well done in ensuring that all system are in place and ready to undertake the major task of conducting our second democratic elections.
The ANC will only be content with an overwhelming majority and will in the next remaining few days jerk up its campai!gn to ensure a decisive victory.
