1. WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS
WECCO endorses ANC in the Western Cape
"Operation Nat Attack" gained further momentum this weekend when a significant number of NP community leaders who are members of WECCO endorsed the ANC at the Western Cape Community Organisation (WECCO) AGM in Mosselbay on Saturday 22nd May. WECCO endorse d the ANC, stating that the ANC is the only party who can build a better future for all in the Western Cape, especially the coloured communities on the Cape Flats and the rural areas. ANC national Chairperson Terror Lekota addressed the AGM attended by over 1000 people and welcomed WECCO into the ANC fold saying, "There is no future with the NP it is only the ANC that cares for the poor and can help build a better life for all in the Western Cape. The NP has had a second chance in the Western Cape and the y have messed up. I urge you to vote ANC and give the Cape hope."
ANC OPERATION FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS TAKES MESSAGE OF TOLERANCE TO THE GROUND
Visiting communities in Vrygrond and Nyanga on Saturday, ANC premier candidate Mr. Ebrahim Rasool, and Chief Whip and NEC member Tony Yengeni, explained the do's and don'ts of Electoral Code of Conduct.
Mr. Rasool said: "The ANC embarked on "Operation Free and Fair elections" this weekend to build on our efforts at ensuring a peaceful election. Our message was clear to all our supporters," DON'T PROVOKE - AND DON'T BE PROVOKED. Our candidates, leaders an d canvassers handed out over 100 000 pamphlets urging supporters to abide by the code of conduct. Our message was well received on the ground "
2. EIGHT DAYS LEFT - ANC PLANS FOR THE FINAL WEEK
The ANC's "Up close and personal" campaign continues this week with door to door canvassing of undecided voters. Canvassers are focussing on targets which have been set for each and every one of the 1500 voting districts. In addition we will be holding at least 10 regional rallies in the 10 ANC regions of the Western Cape.
As part of our campaign to mobilise the youth sector, we are organising more than eight "Kaapse ruk - dis duidelik" youth music roadshows throughout the province starting on Monday evening in Khayelitsha.
The ANC 's campaign will climax with a visit by the Deputy President of South Africa and ANC President, THABO MBEKI, to MITCHELL'S PLAIN ON SATURDAY, 29TH MAY, 11am at the TERMINUS, OPPOSITE MITCHELL'S PLAIN TOWN CENTRE .
President Mbeki will speak and the event will include popular musical groups The Boys, Black Noise, John Pretorius, Al Etto and Ricardo will sing the ANC Western Cape Election song " Die ANC ruk in die Kaap - dis duidelik".
This rally is the culmination of extensive work done by the ANC in Mitchell's Plain, co-ordinated by ANC National Chairperson Patrick "Terror" Lekota who has managed to build a broad ANC alliance with many individuals and organizations previously suppo rtive of the NP. On Saturday, they will pledge their support for President Mbeki and the ANC.

The video was compiled after a unique three-hour session with Cape Town opinion makers and ANC President Thabo Mbeki on Saturday 15 may at the Arthur Seat Hotel in Sea Point. The video will be available from ANC provincial, regional and constituency offices as well as selected video stores.

Monday 24 May: Advocate Johhny De Lange and ANC provincial Secretary, Mcebisi Skwatsha will announce the results of the ANC's internal disciplinary enquiry into the conduct of ANC councilors in Stellenbosch at 15h00.
Tuesday 25 May:
The ANC will announce a detailed programme for the last 6 days of the campaign at 12h00. Light snacks will be served to members of the press.
4. Outline of ANC Premier candidate, Mr Ebrahim Rasool's Programme for the week (details of the programme to be obtained from Heather Proudfoot at 082 49 07 280)
The previous week saw an overwhelming response to ANC premier candidate Ebrahim Rasool throughout the Western Cape. From canvassing in Manenberg , Macassar (where alleged housing fraud was uncovered), to his resounding victory at the premiers debate organ ised by SACTWU on Thursday evening, to his visit to the Overberg on Sunday . Mr Rasool also did extensive work in making known the ANC's plan for fighting crime in the Western Cape. This included patrolling with neighbourhood watches in Kalkfontein for thr ee hours on Friday night and manning roadblocks together with Head of Operation Good Hope, Ganief Daniels.
