CRIME SURVEY STATISTICS A CLEAR INDICATION OF NP INEFFICIENCY IN THE WESTERN CAPE

The NP, as the Provincial Government, has abdicated their responsibility to the people of the Western Cape and has been concentrating more on opposing the ANC. The escalation of crime in the Western Cape is being blamed on the national government. The fact is actually that the NP has failed for the last 5 years to put in place effective measures to deal with the crime in this province.

Mr. Ebrahim Rasool said:

" Mr. Wiley should stop complaining that the National Government is doing nothing about crime in the Western Cape.

"The fact is that the NP is governing here and crime is getting out of hand because the NP has failed to deal with it effectively.

"Yesterday, the ANC launched its 5 pledges and plan for the Western Cape and the issue of fighting crime is our first priority. "We are saying that to fight crime effectively, we need to move resources to the twelve worst-equipped police stations like Manenberg, Guguletu, Heideveld, Hanover Park and others, and to build cooperation between our communities, the police and the national government in combating crime.

"How can the community trust a police force that does not reflect the population of our province? Our plan is to build this trust between the community and the police by ensuring that police management is reflective of the population of the province. An ANC provincial government would be best placed to work with national government and communities to fight crime in our province."
