A steering committee consisting of one person from each of the 20 organizations that attended this meeting was established to convene the first meeting of CODESA on 20 December 1991.

The Steering Committee will look into all issues referred to it including publicity and media matters.

The meeting requested that Justices Mahomed and Schabort chair the first and all subsequent plenary meetings of CODESA.

It has been decided to invite Chief Justice Corbett to officially open the first meeting and welcome the delegates. Religious leaders from various faiths, including Bishop Stanley Mogoba and Prof J H Heyns, will be invited to offer prayers.

All plenary sessions of CODESA will be open to the media.
