We at the Media Review Network wish to express our sadness at the passing of Walter Sisulu. We salute him as a father-figure and a hero.
His strength and goodness is an inspiration to us all. Years of imprisonment and pain under the apartheid regime did not break his determination to see this country he so loved, free. His involvement in the struggle is impossible to ignore due to its sheer magnitude. We owe our liberation to his selflessness and to the selflessness of many of his comrades.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members of Walter Sisulu as well as with his friends. As much as his family and friends will miss him, so too will this nation which he was instrumental in building.
The freedoms we enjoy today are largely attributed to the hard work and dedication of Walter Sisulu and his comrades in the struggle and so no amount of time will ever erase the memories of this giant.
