The Sisulu Family
C/o Office of the President
Luthuli House
Johannesburg
It is with a profound sense of grief and a deep sense of pain that the Mpumalanga Provincial Government learnt of the death of our father, leader and comrade, Walter Sisulu.
Let me on behalf of the Mpumalanga Provincial Government and the people of Mpumalanga, express our sincerest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the Sisulu family and to the African National Congress on the loss of such a dedicated and selfless leader and hero.
You are not alone in your grief and pain. Like you our hearts are filled with grief and sadness because the death of Walter Sisulu has robbed us of someone we valued, loved and treasured so much.
It was through the selfless commitment of Walter Sisulu, his unparallel sacrifice and his deep love for his people and country that we were able to celebrate nine years of freedom a few weeks ago.
Because Walter Sisulu refused to be cowed by banishment and imprisonment, and the real prospect of death, we are now a free people in a united democratic, non-racial, non-sexist and prosperous country that belongs to all who live in it.
We will forever remember Walter Sisulu for his unpretentious humility, his incisive mind and passion for justice. Remembering him as a man of character, a true visionary and a patriot who gave his all for his people.
To the Sisulu family, may God give you the strength to carry you through these trying times of sadness and grief. We shall always be by your side. Our prayers go out with you.
