The 24 October 2004 will go down in history as a sad day for the people of KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa as a whole due to the untimely departure of Comrade Dumisane Makhaye, the MEC for Local Governemtn, Housing and Traditional Affairs in Kwazulu-Natal, the Premier of Limpopo, Mr Sello Moloto said in a message of condolense.
"On my behalf, the government of Limpopo and her people, I send heartfelt condolences to the Makhaye family, Kwa-Zulu Natal provincial government and the African National Congress. May His Soul rest in peace".
"Comrade Dumisani distinguished himself as a true servant of the people, uncompromising in principle and undetterred in his commitment to the creation of a better South Africa. Our people will miss him for the role he played during the liberation struggle and the reconstruction and development of our country post-1994.
