Towards developing a quality rural-based university that contributes to the programme of action of government By definition, universities are supposed to spread and promote knowledge and expertise they possess throughout society. To talk on the developmental role of universities is not only a matter of focusing on offering students accessible and quality-based qualifications but also hinges upon seeing education as directly linked to national development which improves people's lives for the better. • More Promoting youth employment in South Africa This paper deals with these dimensions using experiences and observations from the communities the NYDA is working with. It uses the approaches taken by the NYDA to lobby and advocate for programmes that will ensure that government resources contribute in the development of young people. • More 50th Anniversary of the Sharpeville Massacre During this seminal year for South Africa in which our country will be hosting the 2010 Soccer World Cup, Sharpeville will be commemorating the Jubilee occasion of the shooting at the police station. On 21 March 2010 the community of Sedibeng and Sharpeville will take to the streets to celebrate the triumph of the will of the people for the attainment of a non-sexist, non-racial and democratic Republic of South Africa. • More |
